november is the month for…
NaNoWriMo, of course. (Good luck, Heather!) Every year, I think… I should do that. I used to write. A lot. Recent conversations with a friend from high school (who, sadly, has been re-ripped out of my life, probably thanks to his wife) got me playing with poetry again, and I found I hadn’t completely lost my touch. But, you know, we’re talking about ME here. You know – the girl who planned on knitting a mindboggling 2 pairs of socks last month for Socktoberfest, which included a pair that was already half done, and STILL didn’t finish a single sock, much less a pair. I think I have committment issues.
NaBloPoMo, though… that I might be able to manage. So I’m joining my beloved Trashy in the attempt. Brace yourselves for a month filled with all kinds of inanity!
I gotta say this, though – even with my lack of ability to commit to projects long-term (let’s not discuss my 365 attempt, eh?), NaKniSweMo is awfully tempting. I have several sweaters in my queue that are practically making me crazy, I want to start knitting them so badly, and I have the yarn ready and waiting for pretty much all of them. But, well, you know. Christmas knitting. ‘Nuff said, right?
Which is a nice little segue into another mention of the Top-Secret Holiday Craft-along Blog. Any crafty inclination is welcome – knitting, crochet, other yarny pursuits, embroidery, canning and baking – if you’re making it with your own hands, it counts! If you’d like “in” as a participant, give me a holler – I’ll need your email address, to send an invite, so if you’re not comfortable posting it as a comment here, you can email me at tigerlilies at gmail dot com. It’s nice to have a space to chatter about things we’re making, and not have to worry about the recipients stumbling across it.

I have learned to not commit to alongs that require a commitment. Holiday gift along? No problem because I set my goals. Summer of Socks? Same thing. If I knit just one pair of socks, it counts. Socktoberfest? I had no idea October was over already, so I guess sometimes I even suck at lax alongs. Oh, well.
